Dear Parents,
Holidays come and go, time marches on – do we truly celebrate the specialness of each day? Do we count down the days as the children do in anticipation of Jesus’ birthday and the arrival of the big man in red?
Sunday marks the beginning of Advent. A time of preparation and waiting. How do we prepare ourselves for a miracle? Christ’s birth so long ago in a stable so meek brings to mind humble beginnings. How often do we find ourselves in situations where we are not quite sure how things will turn out? Mary and Joseph were tired and desperately searching for a room. The inns were full that night and they had to settle for a soft bed of hay. I’m not sure if there was any complaining or grumbling going on between the two of them – I somehow doubt it. A sense of something bigger than both of them had filled their hearts. They prepared, they waited, they believed.
As we begin this Advent season may we follow the example set forth by Mary and Joseph as they welcomed Jesus in a much unexpected way. Let us keep an open mind and heart. Let us be open to surprises and even miracles as we prepare, wait and believe.
May you have the gift of faith, the blessings of hope and the peace of His love at Christmas and always,
Mrs. Reap
