Trenton Catholic Academy Unveils “The Iron Mike Collaboratory” during Iron Mike Foundation Annual Giving Campaign Kickoff Hamilton, NJ – Trenton Catholic Academy welcomed their Iron Mike Foundation Board Members, Fr. Gabriel Zeis, vicar for Catholic Education and Catechesis, Diocese of Trenton, Mrs. JoAnn Tier, Moderator, Office of Catholic Education and Superintendent of Schools
, Diocese of Trenton, community stakeholders, faculty and students to the unveiling of the newly renovated technological research and learning center named “The Iron Mike Collaboratory” on Friday, November 4. The Collaboratory, formerly the school library, is a flexible learning area where students and teachers can access data, communicate information and interact with fellow students and colleagues.
The Collaboratory is outfitted with a Promethean ActivWall, an interactive learning system where teachers and students can collaborate, connect, and share ideas virtually. The room also houses a Polycom Video Conferencing System, which creates “a classroom without walls” and allows the students an opportunity to participate in discussions and connect with people from around the world. Students will also have access to countless books and periodical collections on-line.
“This Collaboratory will provide our students with the open space, the digital tools and the means to research and to solve problems. The students and teachers have the world at their fingertips and can become even more actively engaged as learners and members of our global society,” said Trenton Catholic Academy President Sr. Dorothy Payne, SSJ.
The evening highlighted testaments from recent alumna and The College of New Jersey Freshman, Kassandra Sanchez, as well as current TCA students who receive scholarship monies toward their tuition through the Tuchman Foundation. The event also served as the commencement for the school’s Iron Mike Foundation Annual Giving Campaign.
“It is through financial gifts from our generous donors, such as Marty Tuchman, Chairman of the Board of the Tuchman Foundation, that we are able to offer our students these educational opportunities. We encourage anyone who is interested in making a donation to visit our school and witness firsthand the return from that investment. We are here for systemic change. You are not only investing in their present, but also in their future, and the future of all of society,” Payne shared.
