Welcome to Mrs. Carle’s Science Classes!
I am so blessed to be here at TCPA teaching a subject that I love in a beautiful Catholic community! Being a science teacher as well as a registered nurse helps me to provide each of my students with science knowledge as well as real world applications of health. I am teaching Anatomy & Physiology as well as Biology this year. I love science and I hope that my students will too!
Anatomy & Physiology Class:
Welcome! I am truly passionate about teaching A&P and I hope that you will learn so much! This A&P science lab course is designed to provide an opportunity to investigate the human body’s structure, function, reaction to stimuli and the environment, as well as an appreciation of God’s gift of life. I will lead you in instruction, project-based learning, laboratory investigations/observations, and use of technology and literature. You will develop an understanding of the human body. Students, you will also apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills individually, in paired or small groups, or laboratory investigations to develop and demonstrate your knowledge. Also, current and historic health issues will be incorporated which will assist you in making real-life connections.
We will start off the first quarter with a brief review of science basics, then swiftly move into anatomical terminology, body systems, including investigations and dissections. Remember, all God’s creatures will be respected in the class.
I promise that I will come to our class everyday prepared, knowledgeable, open minded, with supplies, and ready to work. I will respect you, be kind to you, help in any way possible, and be thankful that we have this experience together. I expect you to do the same for me and your classmates. One more thing: Safety is a #1. Always!
Biology Class:
Welcome to Biology! We have so much to learn in this science class! It’s exciting to be here to teach you all about the living world!
This Biology lab course will provide you, the student, with an opportunity to investigate God’s gift of life and this living world. In this class, you will develop an appreciation of life from its simplest atom to our complex biosphere. We will start off this quarter with science skills for classroom and lab and then discuss the chemistry of life, molecules of life, and cells. Later in the year, you will learn about photosynthesis, cell division, cellular respiration, inheritance and DNA, plants, and animals. Issues, concerns, and problems with life and health are also included.
Always!
