Welcome to Spanish class! My name is Ms. Quinn I am delighted to have the opportunity to be working with you this year. We will work hard together to start you on your learning of a foreign language. Be prepared to learn MUCHO!
My goal is to provide a positive, safe, challenging, and supportive academic environment that will help shape your children to be the best they can be.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching style evolves daily as I learn through professional development, by studying my peers and, most importantly, by listening to my students. As a Spanish teacher I want to help students achieve the basic skills to understand and communicate in that language, and to develop an interest and appreciation of the Hispanic culture that has become such an important, integral part of American life. Learning a language goes hand in hand with learning about the culture that speaks it.
My enthusiastic, cultural technological approach to teaching Spanish enables students to acquire language skills in a manner that keeps them interested and engaged. I love to teach my students, and the passion and energy I devote to their education is often translated into their passion to think and learn, and that is why teaching Spanish is my life.
Let’s make this school year the best it can be, together!
CLASS GOALS
This class is taught with a communicative approach and a focus on Comprehensible Input; this means that we focus on using Spanish to communicate with each other. The language is delivered to students through conversations and written material that we create together as a class, as well as through materials selected by the instructor (to ensure students receive a broad exposure to language and culture).
